Clarence Tomlinson 23/02/1897 - 06/1965

I am trying to locate any records pertaining to Clarence between the 1911 census (which I have) and 1920 (when he moved to Birmingham from Hanley). He was born in Hunslet, Leeds (Parents John and Emily (nee Wood) Tomlinson. In 1906 his father John died and his mother remarried in 1909 to Richard Obrey. Following the marriage all the children kept Tomlinson as their surname.
Clarence lived at 58 Church Street, Hunslet until 1909/1910 then moved to Hanley along with his mother, step father, his sister (Ivy) and his younger brother (Fred) - his elder borther (Joseph) stayed with his grandfather in Church Street.
I have done searches on Clarence Tomlinson on Ancestry and all I can find is the 1911 census and a 1920 Electoral Register. I cannot locate him in any Military records for WW1 even though he would have been old enough to enlist (his elder brother Joseph Edward (born 1894) did - I have copies his military record).
Also I could not find any military records for Fred (born 1899) as he would have been old enough to enlist as well .
Any help with tracking down these records would be most helpful also any records for Ivy between 1911 and 1920.

You would find the answers to your queries, about not finding service records for the First World War, in the Military help section on this forum. Look at 'No WW1 Record' posted by rich40w. The original post and the subsequent responses began on 25/02/2017. It is only a few down on the current posts so you should not miss it.

Is your Fred Tomlinson the one whose birth was registered in Hunslet (Leeds) in the Dec Q of1901?
If so, he may have missed service in WW1. Maybe served in WW2?

Have you checked the military records on FMP? There are several medal records for a Clarence Tomlinson servingin the East Yorkshire Regiment. There are also lots of records for a Fred Tomlinson. The problem being proving that any of these relate to the people you are researching.
