Thomas and Sarah Tusler

Postby jojotus65 » Sat Apr 22, 2017 7:56 am

Starting searching Tusler genealogy for my husband and would like to know if anyone has found information on the couple above (his grandparents). We have Thomas married Sarah in 1921 in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, Scotland. We have also found that in 1925, Sarah Tusler was listed as widow, tenant-occupier for House 40 Townhead Burgh of Kilsyth. They had at least 2 sons that we know of, twins named Joseph(my husband's father) and Matt (possibly Matthew), born in Kilsyth. Joseph married Joan Allan of Yarraville, Victoria, Australia on 01 August 1953. Joseph emigrated to Australia roughly early 1950s with his friend Stan (or Stanley) Brooks (sp? Brookes). Any help to get a start in the right direction with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Do you have a find my past account? If you do they are doing free for a few days Australia and New Zealand records. This is for Anzac day. You might be able to find some records there.

Hi
I don't know if you have Ancestry or there's a Library nearby that does, but there seems to be a lovely family tree on there with photos.
It gives Thomas's birth 21.May 1897 Horsham Sussex s of Mathew and Annie nee Myson
He is in the Royal Navy from 1913 and awarded the DSM .
He dies in a silly accident 3.7.1922 at Dover falling into the water at the Dockyards. He was serving on HMS Drifter Cascade.
He and his wife Sarah Smyth had 2 children
There are photos of Thomas and Sarah and her mother Ann Montgomery.

Does that sound like your man?

Stefano, I have an Ancestry account (free version) at the moment, so cannot access some files, but thank you. Hoping to get one paid for soon.

ciderdrinker, thank you. I had caught a bit of that while searching, but not all of it. Will try and check that site next time I have a chance.

Appreciate the help, at least I now have a few more leads to follow through on.

page 84,

thank you, it shows a little more about the family than we had - hopefully we can get a bit more done this weekend.
