James Burns

James is my maternal great grand father, who died in Wolverhampton 1928. I can trace him through census returns with his DOB being 1859?.The problem lies in the returns which show his place of birth as variously Wolverhampton,Enfield and London!. I am unable locate his actual birth record at any of these locations. His parents are Mary and John ,of Wolverhampton and an odd thing ,is like James, they do not seem to be in the 1861 census. I did lean towards Enfield as a likely birthplace as his father was a lock maker, which then points to him working at Enfield Works maybe.

There is family with the right names in 1861 , West Ham,London, but father's occupation is fishmonger which does not suggest this is the right connection.

Any thoughts or help would be more than welcomed.
