James Blanshard birth and baptism

Postby brimo » Mon Apr 03, 2017 12:38 pm

Hi Everyone

I have spent the past few more also researching my wifes grandma's side of the family namely Blanchard or sometimes spelt Blanshard. I have had a great deal of success and have got a lot of the birth and death certs.

However I am now up to James Blanchard born on 21 March 1855 at Aughton cum East Cottingworth near Laytham Yorkshire and his baptism on 15th April 1855 at Aughton again.

Ancestry finds the above details but only gives me the text as in the screen shot below.

I get a similar thing when I look at the baptism.

Question is how do I get to see the paper document?

Thanks in advance guys :-)

Baptism at Aughton cum East Cottingwith, 15 April 1855
born March 21
James
Son of George + Maria Blanchard
abode Laytham
father a Labourer

Likely birth registration?
June 1855 Howden 9d 71
Blanshard, James
mother's maiden surname Young

George Blanshard married Maria Young, 9 December 1839, at Bubwith. Could that be them? Both their fathers were called George.

Wow, many thanks Ian. I had the text but nothing else. You say the images are available on Find my Past - I have an Ancestry subscription so cannot get them without paying :-(

Thanks to you I can now confirm that George and Maria were his parents :-) I'll do further research later tonight.

Many thanks :-)

Free access to birth, marriage and death records, and also census records, on findmypast over this bank holiday weekend. Starting now!
So you can see the Yorkshire parish records if you register with them.
