Clifford's in Ireland

Postby Urchin » Wed Mar 22, 2017 6:58 pm

I am having some trouble tracking down Irish records on some of my ancestors.

In particular, I am searching for a Thomas Clifford (1797-1874) and his wife, Mary Clifford (1806-1872) (I think her maiden name Spencer but I haven't confirmed that). From what I know, they were either from or once lived in Kerry, Ireland.

I know that in 1833, they, with their children, Mary & Thomas, came to Canada.

I would love to be able to track their family lines back a bit further in Ireland, but have had no luck thus far. Could anyone help?

do you have estimated years of birth for the children ?

Transcripts, along with images, for most Catholic & Church of Ireland parishes in Co. Kerry are available on the free IrishGenealogy website.

I'm slightly confused by your dates. If Thomas died in 1874, then he surely couldn't have migrated to Canada in 1883!

As I found his death in Nova Scotia, is this him in the 1871 census in Nova Scotia?
Name Thomas Clifford
Gender Male
Age 65
Birth Year (Estimated) 1806 (this is later than suggested by his age at death)
Birthplace Ireland
Marital Status Married
Nationality Irish
Religion Catholic
Event Place Petit Passage c, Digby 191, Nova Scotia
Page Number 20
House Number 68
also in the household:
Clara Clifford F 3y N S
Mary Clifford F 63y Ireland

Thanks Sylcec. Perhaps his birthdate is different from what I have seen in other documents. I will try searching with different variables.
