British Newspaper Archives

Postby Rv89 » Sun Mar 19, 2017 2:03 pm

British Newspaper Archives website.

You can view 10 articles for free!

I have found out a few things myself through the website. For example, on my husband's side I have found out that a father and daughter were shot in a possible murder-suicide scenario, that another one was convicted of manslaughter, and that some died of blood poisoning, jungle fever and falling off a horse on a bridge in India!

On my side, I found out that my German ancestors who moved to the UK was a victim of base coin usage at his grocery shop.

Type the name on google and you will find it.

Are their similar archives for other countries?

Ones with that same type of database to make research easier?

Maybe there is a network or something. I don't have any relatives from Britain, but I would like to check out the other parts of Europe for this type of information.

The following link is called European Newspaper Archives, and contains information about various, mainly pay, websites.

From this link you can click to another page called International News, for other areas in the world.
