I have just been told these symbols may suggest that my grandfather was in this infantry
As I am new to genealogy can anyone tell me where I can research any details regarding my grandfather and this infantry
Thanks

The National Archives will have any records, have a look at their online catalogue ('Discovery'). If you put his name into 'Discovery' in series WO 97 it should be there.

Ian
Thank you! you have just helped me so much!
I am very intrigued how did you work all that out from the small snippet I put up? As I said I am new to genealogy

Cheers
Alison

Hi Alison
That small snippet, and the year that you gave, 1915, was enough. A look in the marriage indexes for Harland in the Hull area found them.
Glad it's the right George Smith, you can see his army record on ancestry* and/or findmypast.
And do see brunes' post about war diaries and the KOYLI Museum in General Research queries!
Ian
*on ancestry you may need to go back as well as forwards to see all the images in the record
