Logically (which is not necessarily correctly) someone with an S prefix should be in the Supply companies. Unfortunately, the Long, Long Trail website has ground to a halt with the Supply companies - see http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/regiments-and-corps/the-army-service-corps-in-the-first-world-war/
. My impression is that the answer will be in some big thick book published in just penny numbers and available at the National Archives and ?
If no-one here comes up with the answer soon, you need to raise the question in the Great War Forum. See http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php
- these are the sort of guys who have big thick books on their shelves or know someone who has.
