owen owens - anglesey - a brickwall

Postby nenchad04 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 11:24 pm

Hi, I am having a minor meltdown with my ancestor Owen Owens, born possibly on anglesey. I have his sons marriage certificate (also Owen Owens) to Angelina Craven on 12 oct 1846 at Llangattock, where Owen Snr is noted as a shoemaker. In 1851 census Owen jnr is listed with his wife and son Charles and also a Richard Owens noted as a lodger, living at shop row, bedwelty. Using Richard as a possible brother for Owen jnr, I have found a baptism for him at llanfechell anglesey in 1821 with parents owen owens and margaret with fathers occupation as shoemaker. I thought i'd cracked it but have not managed to locate a baptism for Owen jnr on the island with the same parents or occupation. The abode on richards baptism looks like Foel Bach but I can't find that on any map. To make matters more complicated the 51 census for jnr has the most difficult to read hand writing and his area of birth has been transcribed as Augleana, old Churel !! The 51 census is also the only one ive managed to find him or his wife in. I know he died in 1868 as did his wife angelina. I'd love to find out a bit more about him and really interested in his father's life as a shoemaker.
any help greatly appreciated
thanks

MayHam thank you so much for all that. I had the 51 census for jnr, and had seen the 71 for snr and the baptism of richard, but i had got so bogged down with the fact that richard was younger than owen in the 51 census that I just couldnt see the wood for the trees, add the fact that neither Owen nor Owens is not the best names to search for in wales.

I really appreciate your help with them
