Britains in Petrograd

Postby jessop » Fri Feb 17, 2017 7:29 pm

With the centenary of the Russian Revolution coming up I thought it would be a good time to try and get a break through my grandparents Charles and Dora Lewis were both born in St. Petersburg and married their in 1910. I know a lot about Dora nee lingard but the Lewis side remains a mystery. My great grand parents were James and Jessie nee ward, James died in 1884 in St Petersburg Jessie was still living in St . Petersburg in 1910. I know no more about what they were doing there apart from he was a Merchant of the second guild of St Petersberg . In an obituary for my grandfather Charles it said his grandfather built the first vessel to completely navigate the Volga. Charles and Dora escaped at the start of the revolution in 1917.
