Bonaventure Daffron/Dafforne

Postby katebenn » Fri Jan 27, 2017 4:40 pm

I'm searching for Bonaventure's birth c1640 & his marriage to an Elizabeth c1666.
I have a child Elizabeth Dafforne baptised 3 Apr 1669 in Bagington, Warks.
Bonaventure was buried 1 Dec 1695 in Binley, Warks
Elizabeth buried 2 Apr 1692 also in Binley; w/o Bonaventure
Any ideas?

I haven't found a baptism or marriage yet, but as Bonaventure died in 1695, I wondered if you'd seen this, and if it relates to your man, whether it might give family details:
Bonaventure Daffern, carpenter. Place: Binley, Warwickshire. Lichfield Consistory Court 1696.
Document type: Will, Inventory.

Hi,
No I haven't - this must be him at Binley, Warks.
Is this record to be found on Ancestry?

Possible marriage?
Name: Bonaventure Dassarn
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth Wright
Event Date: 1665
Event Place: Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwick
England Marriages, 1538–1973

Might be a bit of misinterpretation by the transcriber?

Ancestry doesn't cover the date for Bonaventure unfortunately - find my past does but I don't have a subscription with them. Do you? if so could you look it up for me please?

Hi,
This could well be correct. Bonaventure is such an unusual name & dates match with child Elizabeth baptised 1669 in Bagington which is close to Coventry.
Daffern could easily be 'Dassarn' mis transcribed; but Ancestry does not give me an image.
Thanks for this though - it certainly helps.
Just looked up IGI - bingo!
8 Oct 1665 - Bomvinture Daffarm/Daffern or Boniventer Dassarn

[quote="ksouthall"]Marriage of a Bonaventure Dafferne in 1594:-

Many thanks for these details - most helpful & is certainly making me think about other entries.
Daffern can be easily miss transcribed & needs to be carefully looked at in Parish regisers.
