Baby Harrison

Postby janmlawson » Mon Jan 02, 2017 3:31 pm

I wonder if anyone could help me find a baby with the surname Harrison mother Keates or something like. He/she was born and died between the 1901 and 1910 censuses. I found a birth of a Lucy to a mother Heates but I can't find a corresponding death. The area was Prestwich, I think. Frederic and Hilda were the 2 other children who survived. Thanks

I have sent for the birth certificate with the mother's name of Heates. I found the death entry on Find My Past but not on the GRO online. The only info I had was on the 1911 Census - my gt grandmother Polly Keates wife of Thomas Harrison and mother of Frederic and Hilda stated she had 3 children and one died. So the unnamed baby was born and died between the Census.

In 1911, Polly says she's had 3 children, one deceased, but if you can't find a relevant death in the indexes, it's possible the deceased baby was a stillbirth. In which case, there may be no record to find, as compulsory registration of stillbirths and their formal registration, didn't start until 1927. I hope the Heates entry is the one you're looking for.

Certificate arrived this morning and it's the correct one. Lily Harrison born to Thomas and Polly Harrison nee Keates 17th January 1903. My other great aunt. I will let the GRO know the correct name. Thanks for the help.
