Which pit?

Postby Amazinggrace » Tue Dec 27, 2016 12:27 pm

My 2xgreat grandfather, Robert Callan was born in 1834 in Bothwell, Lanark,Scotland.
He was a limestone miner. He died on the 22ndAug 1877. His death certificate reads that the cause of
death was " fall of block from roof of pit.Death instantaneous"I would like to know which pit. I have tried various websites on accidents and deaths in mining, but he hasn't come up. He lived in Lesmahagow.Any ideas where to try?
Thanks
