Merchant Navy apprenticeships. Hy Harding FURRIAN

Postby Mick Loney » Sun Dec 11, 2016 6:44 am

It would have been nice to put the columns in context, by incluing the headings, but my guess is "f london 11/6/69 london ??/??" ( can't read last few figures, but think it is another date)

Edit Ignore comments about headings, have just spotted your second post!

Jo,
Sadly, due to forum limitations, the quality of your uploaded images are not good enough to expand sufficiently to see, before they get blocky. Perhaps the original is a better quality, if you can tell us the link, we can look at it.

I think it might say
Run London 18/6/49
Not sure about the next bit, it may end "recd 22/6" (money?). May be totally wrong about that.

I think that the term "Run" used by the Royal Navy, and in the Merchant Service, usually means "deserted".

Have you found him in the Merchant Seamens records 1835-1857, on findmypast?

There's a Henry Fussian, born 1830, Middlesex, in the index. For BT113

I assume that Hy is used as an abbreviation for Henry - like Wm for William?
