Found a Susannah Prior born 1804, London.
Am wondering if she could be the same as Ann?

Am wondering if Rebecca may have forgotten her age in the 1871 census?
Could she have moved back to Surrey after Francis' death?

There was a Rebecca Hatfield who died in Lambeth in 1873.

Are there any children shown? With the new GRO.GOV website, mother's maiden name is now shown for all births between1837&1915. Find their GRO entry and you should find her maiden name, which may help finding his marriage.
I personally found an unknown marriage yesterday, simply by analysing the mothers maiden names, so I do know it works:)

He doesn't seem to have mentioned any wife/companion to the workhouse people in Pancras.
Given as single on later creed registers. Although those records are not always accurate.
Brief exam in Pancras from April 1863 attached.

Hi
It does sound fascinating. Father Cornelius Hatfeld. Sad that Francis ended up in the workhouse.
Looking at it more closely, the exam could indicate that Francis was a widower. But that could be a reference to Susannah, who he did marry, rather than Rebecca. Still not finding anything on that lady.
