Can any body point me in the direction of where I can find info on the above?
This event comes up on Ancestry but the website link doesn't work
The mine owner was Jethro Scowcroft and the event was a Fall of roof
An ancestor of mine may have been killed in this accident

Thanks

Hi
The Coal Mining History Resource Centre website seems to be defunct. There are archived pages, not sure how you could search them. Whether there would be any more info on there is open to question.

The record from ancestry -
UK, Coal Mining Accidents and Deaths Index, 1700-1950
Name: J. Lomax
Event Type: Death
Event Year: 1861
Death Age: 25
Death Date: 18 Oct 1861
Death Place: Bolton, Lancashire
Occupation: Fireman
Colliery: Tonge
Owner: Jethro Scowcroft
Notes: Fall of roof.

Newspapers would normally be the place to look.
But first confirm that there was a death. At first I couldn't. However this might be him -
Dec 1861 Bolton 8c 170
Lomas, John
age 25

Haven't seen anything.
BNA has The Bolton Chronicle, but they don't have any editions from 1861
