British Army numbers of WW1 era

Postby AdrianB38 » Sat Dec 03, 2016 3:41 pm

There is a seriously useful post by Paul Nixon on his Army Service Numbers blog today.

On several occasions I've tried to advise how to get some idea of when a soldier's number might have been issued and I've always had to skate over one bit with some advice about making sure that you're investigating soldiers in the same number sequence. Well, Paul's blog covers the different sequences for the Essex Regiment, how there could / would be different soldiers with the same number and what battalions they'd be in.
