Problems thrown up by new GRO indexes

Postby Mick Loney » Fri Nov 18, 2016 12:47 pm

Oh, how great I thought, when the new gro.gov indexes were released, I'll be able to prove all the deductions I have made over the past 10+ years. How wrong can one be?

Whilst I have found the majority of my research has been proved correct, the others have thrown up some real doozies ( not all of my making, I hasten to add).

I have found one family, where someone appears to have moved in with his late brothers wife according to the children's mothers maiden name. Another man seems to have younger children who have diferent mothers from their older siblings, indicating another marriage, but for the life of me cannot see another marriage!

So all you genealogists out there hoping to resolve a few outstanding problems, be warned, the new indexes may generate more problems than they solve! :) :)
