Help with WW1 German war cemetery records

Mon Oct 03, 2016 7:20 am

Good afternoon

I am seeking members' advice on where I can locate details of graves/interments for WW1 soldiers killed in action in France - preferably online, but archival repositories are also welcome. I can find many lists of German war cemeteries in France and elsewhere, but not where I can find a list of soldiers buried there.

In particular I am looking for Peter Jakob PETERS killed in action 8 October 2015. He was a member of the 84th Reserve Infantry Regiment, 10th Company. I found him in the casualty list but not where he was buried. There were a few links to the FindMyGrave index for someone of this name in Ancestry and FamilySearch but none were my man.

Any assistance/advice is most welcome.

Tessacate :)

https://www.volksbund.de/en/volksbund.html may be of use, though I don't think it holds all possible names judging by a warning on the search page.

https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Germany_Military_Records is part of the FamilySearch Wiki and it is always worth going there to see if there's an answer to this sort of thing. That's where I got the first URL from.
