I am now thoroughly confused! Not sure what record you are referring to. The baptism I am looking at, as earlier referred to by Ianbee, says:
(1828) July (no day) Wm Henry, parents: Henry & Elizabeth Warren, abode: East Ogwell, occ: labourer.

Are you now looking at the baptism in Broadhempston which says:
(1800)
"Henry the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Warren privately baptised 3 Nov, publicly admitted etc 9 November"

A private baptism usually occurred if a baby was sickly and may not have been expected to survive. When survival was assured then the infant would be presented in the church to be admitted as a member of the congregation.

Thank you Sylvia, sorry if I confused you.
Yes I believe Henry born 1800 is William Henry's father.
Thank you for explaining the birth registration
