What did an OPTICAL TURNER do in England in 1820's

I've tried researching the history of optical turners but haven't been able to find any satisfying information. I would love to know more about what my ancestors profession. Any help would be appreciated

They would have made optical lens' for spectacles, telescopes etc. The occupation would be the same wherever it was practised - UK, Europe, America. There's a fascinating YouTube film detailing the process of making camera lenses. Of course, it's a modern, largely automatic process, but these stages in making the lenses would have to have been carried out by hand in earlier times.
