Suggestions on where to look please

The only information that I have to date is that a chap called Edmund Parker was involved in building houses on the Kent coalfield during the mid 1920s. His business partner allegedly withdrew company funds from the bank for staff wages but absconded abroad with the money leaving Mr Parker penniless.

Local newspapers would the best starting point probably - but may not be easily available on-line.

You could try trade directories of the time, if he was a partner he might be listed. Look at shipping departures too, he will be on them if he went overseas. Have you just entered his name and that he was a builder in the 1920's, into Google, that might throw something up?

Sometimes the needle can be found.
