Help Needed - hit a brick wall

Postby rfitzgerald1963 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 1:48 pm

Thanks to help from some great people on here I have managed to trace my Grandfathers family back to my 3x Great grandparents but I have hit another wall and hoping someone can give me a leg up to the next generation.

My 3x Great Grandmother is Caroline Judith Ballard and I have two problems,

First i cannot find a birth record for her anywhere on the 1841 & 1851 census it says she was born in Westminster in abt. 1820, but i cannot find any record of her, I have tried full name, part name, using relations etc but no success can anyone help me with where i should look next?

Second problem, my 3x Great Grandfather dies in 1850 and Caroline is on the 1851 census living with a Mary ann Pollard (who I think is her mother?) but then i cannot find her after this she was only act 30 and did wonder if she remarried but again cannot seem to find a clue to what happens. Any help that anyone can provide I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Richard

Caroline Judith PARKER married Charles CARLY at St Martin in the Fields, Westminster on 18/4/1857 - she was a widow of full age - her father is shown as William BALLARD, victualler.

On 8th Dec 1820 there is a baptism at St Margaret's, Westminster of a girl - the entry names her as Caroline Judith Hawkins Ballard , daughter of William HAWKINS and Mary Ann BALLARD , he is a publican in Parliament Street.

Per freeBMD search at Chelsea June 1855 1a 208, a Caroline Ballard marries either a Robert Park or William Tooley.
It could be Robert Park and the name has been slightly altered to Parker on her subsequent 1857 marriage record. Jim

AntonyM, thanks for your reply, can i ask where you got the data I have done searches on Ancestry and on Findmypast but I am not getting this data back. what you have found fits with the rest of the information I have so certain it is correct only want to find the actual records.

Thanks

Perhaps you're not targeting the search properly. Use the A-Z of record sets and select the one you want (eg Westminster Baptisms).

Findmypast have got the contract for records held by Westminster City Archives. Ancestry haven't.

Thanks Very much this has really helped, seems like William was the landlord of the public house across the road from the houses of Parliaments and i have managed to find Rates Payments from 1795 - 1821 & a record in the London Gazette regarding his death in 1823. :D
