Again Peter I think you are on the right lines.
I have had a good look at his service records on Ancestry and he served in the Army beyond WW1 transferring to the Reserves in 1919 with his final demob in 1920. There is mention of his Army papers being forwarded to Grosvenor Gdns. I think maybe the annotation on his Naval Record is the War Office gathering together all his different service records to calculate his pension as he went from Militia (1897) to Navy, break for wedding and children, then to Army and the Hampshire Regt followed by the labour Corps, ending up in the Agricultural Corps (1920)!
