John Williams, Navy death.

Postby mike4182w » Sun Nov 30, 2014 2:22 pm

My great uncle John Williams, died aboard HMS Dorsetshire on 5th April 1942. He was a Stoker Class 1.

I can find his naval death record, which details the year, page and volume reference of his death, similar to that provided by GRO.

Is there any way I can get a copy of this certificate or any documents to support it? I'm very new to this Ancestry game! ( apologies if answers are simple).

Thanks, Mike.

You can order a copy of the certificate from GRO , just as you would any other .

Perfect. I wasn't sure if that was the case because the page was missing the link so I presumed I had to pursue other avenues. Many thanks!

You could try the website of the Dorsetshire Association (http://www.dorsetshire.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/) and there should be files at The National Archives at Kew.

Hi, I've read your request in the WDYTYA magazine for somebody in Plymouth to help with a photo of the Naval Memorial. I live in Ivybridge near Plymouth and can help you with this if needs be.

Raygringrod - I think you are responding to the wrong post. Look in the general research section. Scroll down to the one headed 'anyone in Plymouth'.
