Dowson Lightfoot and others

Postby kimmieto » Tue Jun 17, 2014 1:41 pm

I think I found my husband's grandfather on the IWM website. Dowson Lightfoot, British Army Royal Engineers, Service #WR272934. We believe it is him because there were not many with that name. I cannot find him at all on findmypast. Would love to know more about him.

Is anyone putting information on the Lives of the First World War Website? I've found my grandfather and his brother but am not sure whether to fill in information.

Have you not thought that Dowson might be Dawson? On FreeBMD there is a Dawson Lightfoot born in the September Quarter of 1886 with the birth registered at Cockermouth, could this be him?

Apologies for not replying before. I have found him on the IWM website for Ww1 and ancestry but nothing on findmypast. Will keep looking. His name has been a challenge, I have his birth certificate and the registrar made a mistake on it. Was nearly called Dab...
