ATS

Postby Jan Marsh » Thu Apr 03, 2014 7:43 pm

I am researching someone who was in the ATS in World War II. I have her army records but there are abbreviations that I cannot find the meaning of.
In the Unit column - SCRD? possibly Portsmouth
At the end of her records it refers to the Y list and SOSY - any ideas what this refers to?
Does anyone know of a reference work that indicates the location of the various HQ of ATS Commands ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

There is a discussion here : http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/15663-x ... e-records/
which deals with the Y list . SOS stands for Struck off Strength ( as opposed to TOS Taken on Strength ) so I think SOSY means struck off the Y list but I'm not an expert and others may have a better idea.
