Finding my Father

My father John Herbert Boden was in the Cheshire Reginment Army no on marriage certificate private 4129?3 97 he married in stockport and was 20yrs old in 1940 and he lived in Gorton Lancashire how do i get information on him as i never new him. thankyou for your time.

Records for soldiers serving in WW11 are still held by the MOD https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-persona ... ce-records this is the link. Records may only be applied for by next of kin. Presumably your Mother has passed away so you or any siblings you may have would be eligible to apply. The link I have supplied will give you full details of what is required to make an application.

There is a tree on Ancestry which appears to relate to your father, just enter his name in 'search all records'. If this is the correct person then sadly he passed away in 1974 but it would be worth getting in touch with the tree owner for more information.
