Photo date

Postby Maddyco » Wed Mar 05, 2014 12:15 am

Can anyone help out with an approximate date for these wedding pictures please. I'm trying to identify the people in them & a date might point me in the right direction. Thanks.

I will begin by saying that this, to me, seems an unusual wedding photo and although the word Sunday is there written in English, the photo does have a 'foreign' look about it.

I would guess, by the style of the hats, that it is 1920's circa. I hope this gives you some ideas as to who the couple are.

Some of my ancesters came from Prussia. Maybe that's a clue. Thank you very much.

The other word in the background on the first photo is RECTOR - so - it would appear to be a noticeboard from an English Church and Church of England (rather than RC or other non-conformist church).

To me the only unusual thing is the bride's head dress. Am no good at dating pics, so won't even hazard a guess at date, though 1920s seems reasonable.

Might be 30's - my grandparents bridesmaid was wearing a similar albeit shorter length dress to the bridesmaids in your photo in 1934

Thank you all for your ideas. If the bride is who I think she is, she may have been born c1911. So an early 1930s wedding makes sense. The shorter dress length looks to be that era. Really appreciate the help.

Looking at the waist-line, length of skirt and style of hair I would go with early 1930s.

Thank you for your help. The early 30s seem to make sense regarding the identity of the bride. We might have solved a family mystery!
