Hi all,

I was just wondering, what was so special about this date and time that made 336 people decide to go onto the WDYTYA Forum. Normally there are just a few of us, sometimes a few more, but this date and time really stand out, WHY? One of my grandsons was 16 on that day, but I can't believe that's the reason!

That was, I think, two days after the Diamond Jubilee bank holiday in the UK. Would that have made people more nostalgic and therefore interested in genealogy?

You are right, it was just after the Jubilee because my birthday was on the bank holiday Monday! The only really half decent day of the extended weekend. I'm not so sure about the genealogy/nostalgia tie-up though, but who knows. I've had a quick look at the posts around that time and nothing really stands out. We'll probably never know. I must have better things to think about!

Me too!

6th June is also the anniversary of D-Day so may have inspired people to find out about ancestors who fought in the Second World War.

Of course, that's more like it. My dad went over during that week having come back through Dunkirk in 1940. Like very many men, he did not have a 'good war'.
