William Hardy b1823 Kirkhaugh, Northumberland

Postby katebenn » Tue Jan 21, 2014 3:49 pm

Does anyone have a baptism record for William Hardy s/o William & Sarah Hardy b1823 at Kirkhaugh, Northumberland?
He married Isabella Atkinson in 1853 at Newcastle upon Tyne Register Office.
In 1861 he is a coalminer living Annfield Plain, Durham
In 1871 an Innkeeper at Burnhope PH, nr Holmside, Durham
then he disappears - no 1881 census, death or burial details
His wife Isabella died 19 Feb 1872 at Burnhope of Small Pox (1 week) from death cert BUT I've not found a burial in the area (Burnhope, Holmside or Lanchester)
Can anyone help with William's baptism and/or his death
Isabel's burial?

familysearch has images of the Bishop's Transcripts for Kirkhaugh 1760-1844 :

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... :263950222

You will need to plough through them .

Hi Colin,
Thanks for this - I use Ancestry not findmypast.
Any luck with his death?

Looking again at his notes - his age is all over the place on censuses BUT this is not unusual !!
Will look on BTs site you sent for this earlier date this afternoon - going out now!

I can't find a burial for Isabella in fmp's parish records and checking for William there is nothing for a William Hardy b abt 1821 . the nearest is born 1792 and buried 1879 in Hexham , which is way off on all counts.

Hi Colin,
Thank you so much for pointing me to family search BTs for Durham - what a wonderful site. Hours & hours of research for me now as my maternal ancestors hail from the area & living in Staffordshire its a long way to Durham record office to find those annoying missing BMDs which help complete a tree.
I've been looking at Kirkhauf & have found sibling baps - so thank you so much.
Is there anything I can help you with?
Best wishes,
Kate

Found this old post, and wondered if you have had success with William Hardys death? He was my GG grandfather, and moved to Metal Bridge, Ferryhill sometime after 1871. He died 15 Feb 1878. I was given a transcription of his death certificate. His death was registered by son John. Nephew William Hardy (son of brother Joseph) and wife Tamar were also living in Metal Bridge at the time.
