David Rees Owen b.1894 d.1918

Postby Maddyco » Tue Dec 31, 2013 1:09 am

Does anyone know if there are any surviving records, including photos, of the Welch Regiment which served during WW1? Our grandfather died in France & although I have the details of his death, from the War Graves Commission, my family have no other details about him, as our grandmother remarried & went to NZ. All we have is his army number.
I know he came from Aberdare & had a brother called Edward Owen Owen.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have just been researching David Rees OWEN Welsh Regiment 1914.

and have just found your posting - so excited - I have your Grandfather's 1914 War Medal - his name and service number and Welsh R. is engraved on the outside rim of the medal.

I do hope you are still getting replies from this website.

as our grandmother remarried & went to NZ. .......

I am in New Zealand and this is where I found the medal.
