The birth date is corroborated from 1939 register, where there is

Johanna Thatcher [Johanna Addison], Widowed
Birth Date: 24 Jul 1890
Address: 120 Asylum Rd Camberwell

Other Household Members: John G Monks, Mary A Monks, Arthur N Monks, Victor W Thatcher, Albert J Thatcher, Herbert P Addison and Alfred Haite(?)

Yes that is Johanna Howes In 1939. She married 3 times - Monks/Thatcher/Addison. Arthur W Monks was my father. Within the family, Johanna's birthday was never in any doubt as 24 July 1890, although I don't think anyone in the family ever saw a birth certificate. It was only when I started researching my family history, 10 years after Johanna's death, that I couldn't find any trace of her until her appearance on the 1911 Census!

I've now checked the whole of Borough High Street on the 1891 Census and the Howes family are nowhere to be found under any surname! Think their location is destined to remain a mystery! I might have to accept that I'm never going to find Johanna before her appearance in 1911 aged 21.
