I think that if presented well, there would be no such thing as a family history which is ‘too boring’ to make a show – one of the most interesting talks I’ve been to is one on the life of an Agricultural Labourer at WDYTYA Live – it really brought it to life, describing the food, the cottage, what his day would have been like, etc. An enthusiast could really bring to life some of the occupations we all have in our trees – I’d love to know more about the lives of ag labs, coal miners, domestic servants, factory workers, etc. As someone else on the forum suggested, it might be useful to pick apart the different roles within the ag lab description. They may not be glamorous or exciting but we like to know about them because we can relate to them!

My list:

John Sergeant
David Attenborough
Ralph Fiennes
Anne Diamond
Judi Dench
Rosemary Conley
Paul Daniels
Pam Ayres
Bruce Forsyth
Gary Lineker
Anne Robinson
Paul Merton
Tom Baker

I asked my boyfriend what he thought & he suggested doing more non-TV celebs – musicians or authors, perhaps.
Researching:
Denman - anywhere in the West Country but especially North Curry & Taunton
Fisher - Wedmore & Mark, in Somerset
Thomas - Minehead & Dunster
Willsman - everywhere!
Leighton/Layton in Gloucestershire & Herefordshire

I was reading something today about Hugh Grant's ancestors. Really fascinating on both sides.

[:)] I've enjoyed reading all your suggestions and would like to add mine too.

Robin and Duncan Campbell (brothers) members of ub40 - scottish ancestry

Terry Wogan, radio 2 DJ - his irish and welsh ancestry[;)]

Paul McCartney - irish ancestry - I guess?

Noddy Holder, lead singer with Slade - just 'cause I think he would be fun

And keeping to a musical theme,

Lulu

Shirley Bassey

Jools Holland

Maxi Priest

Jullian Lennon - son of John[;)]

Guess that's the next series sorted then!

Researching :- Kelley, Greenwood, Buckley, Loring,

Gooch, Rogers, Nicklen, Clarke, Hull and more ,lol

Lord Paul Drayson, the Labour peer and government minister. He is my husband's fifth cousin and the parts of his family history I have done have been really interesting. I am sure there is a lot more to uncover.

Being from Australia, I love this show, but unfortunately there are times when we haven't heard of the person that the show is about. We have had only two series on Australians and I would love to see more, as well as the Irish Series. I know we are putting forward suggestions as to who we would love to see in future eposodes, but what about those people that have been looked at but for one reason or another they were considered not worthy enough.

My list of who I would love to see on the next series are as follows:

Sean Connery
Judi Dench
Cliff Richard
Barry Gibb
Ronald Blythe
Gordon Ramsay
Dawn French
Paul McCartney
Michael Caine
Billy Connolly
Richard Branson

Any of these would be great.

Many thanks
Terry

There are times when I haven't heard of some of the celebrities on the UK version - and I live in England! However, here is my choice:

Bruce Forsyth
Jean Marsh
Mark Gatiss
Barry and Robin Gibb
David Dimbleby
David Tennant
Tom Baker
Patrick Stewart

and the next US series:

Ryan Seacrest
Richard Dean Anderson.

Cheers

David Tennant has already appeared in a sries of WDYTYA? I can't remember which one it was - 4 or 5, I think.

Patrick Stewart would be interesting.
