Clary's grandfather Clary Craggy 1746-1818 married Sarah Marshall 9th May 1772 in Great Yarmouth. Which resulted in several named Sarah Craggy.

We could do with some info about Lucy. Do you have any?
Speculation!
A marriage in Weeley, Essex, 19 May 1806
Samuel Brecknell and Elizabeth Doe

A baptism in Lexden, Essex, 29 November 1807
Lucy Brecknell, daughter of Samuel + Elizabeth
BT here
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=513953

A burial in Great Yarmouth, 19 August 1822
Elizabeth Bracknell, age 40
PR here
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=361921

Was she the lady who married to Samuel in Essex? And did Samuel then remarry in following year, 1823, to Sarah Smith in nearby Gorleston? Does anyone have any more info on that marriage?
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N212-DXG

Subsequently there are some baptisms to Samuel and Sarah Brecknell in Yarmouth
Anyway, Samuel died in Yarmouth in 1850, age 66
And a will for him, a link to it on Norfolk Sources
https://tinyurl.com/y3maz6hd

Sarah died in 1854 and also left a will.
On the other hand, when their daughter Sarah married in 1852 an announcement in the Norfolk papers said
"Mr John Robinson, fifth son of the late Mr John Robinson, of Wells, to Sarah Brecknell, eldest daughter of the late Mr Samuel Brecknell, of Yarmouth, a native of the city of Worcester."

EDIT 1841 census possibility for the Brecknells in Yarmouth, piece 794 book 2 folio 30 page 8
Transcribed as Brichacek on ancestry and as ??? on findmypast.

Many thanks Ian for your ideas. Sadly what I actually know about Lucy comes from the baptismal records of her two children. No father is named and they are described as "base born".
There is a strange nexus between Great Yarmouth and Essex in the family. Your speculation is probably correct about Lucy's antecedents.

Hi John

I’m a member of Norfolk FHS so could look on their database if it would help.

Hi John,

I've found a number of records in the NFHS database which may or may not be the right person (people).

Clary Craggy

1. 9/5/1772 Clarry Craggy married Sarah Marshall, St Nicholas Great Yarmouth. He signed, she marked. Witnesses Gab. Clifton and Ann Seago, both signed.
2. 22/2/1773 Clarry (sic) Craggy baptised, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth Father Clarry Craggy, mother Sarah.
3. 29/3/1795 Clary Craggy Junior, Caulker, residence Yarmouth, mentioned in “Transcript of Member to Parliament”, Norfolk Poll Books, Miscellaneous archives.
26/10/1796 ditto
9/5/1807 ditto but name shown as “Clarry” and no longer “junior”.
4. 29/11/1803 Clarry (sic) Craggy baptised, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth. Profession of parent: Caulker? Mother: Sarah Lingwood. Notes: Born 25/11/1803, private baptism.
5. 18/8/1806 Andrew Craggy bap St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, born 17/8/1806, private baptism.
Father Clarry (Caulker), mother Sarah Lingwood
6. 16/7/1818 Clary Craggy buried aged 72, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth
7 12/12/1830 Clary Craggy buried aged 56, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth
8. 17/10/1832 Clary Craggy married Lucy Brecknell, St. Nicholas, Great Yarmouth, by banns.
He made his mark, she signed. Witnesses Charles Sewell, Mary Anne Stannard (both signed).
The marriage is the only record available for Lucy Brecknell.

Sarah Lingwood – searched for records 1775-1790
1 15/10/1780 Sarah Lingwood baptised Norwich St Paul, born 11/10/1780 Parents John Lingwood and Sarah Symonds.

note in 2nd Register "born as appears from an entry in a family Prayer book, Nov 16.1786 & Baptised
though not entered Dec.17.1786" - does not say whether this refers to Clarry or Sarah.
28/8/1803 Eleanor Craggy married Samuel Trotter, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth (BTs so no witnesses shown)
19/2/1804 Both William Craggy and Eleanor Craggy were witnesses at the marriage of William Trotter and Rachel Saunders, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth. Presumably a different Eleanor from the previous entry. He marked, she signed.
14/3/1813 John Craggy married Elizabeth Ann Nash, St Nicholas, Great Yarmouth. Witnesses David Absolon, N. Berry. All signed.
