Burial place

Postby pawkydawky » Wed Jul 18, 2018 1:54 pm

I'm trying to find out where my Uncle Charles Vincent Docherty who died in 1927 at the age of 3 months in Lumphinians, Fife, where he was buried. I've tried Fife cemetry and Motherwell heritage centre for burial information, but no joy. If he was in a paupers grave would it still be recorded and is there any other place I could find this information.

You could try Fife Council (https://www.fifedirect.org.uk/atoz/inde ... AD3A91F476) but if he was buried in a church at Lumphinnan then you would need to find out from the Fife archives office in Markinch, the records might be at the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh. I am not sure where Motherwell comes into it.

Hi, Pawkydawky,
The answer may lie not in where he died but where he was born.
He died in Fife but was born in Bellshill.
Good luck

I'm guessing his death record doesn't mention a cemetery?
