Hi
First off I used the Lancashire Will Search
http://user.xmission.com/~nelsonb/lws.htm

Lists the relevant LDS film numbers, so I had a look to see if they had been digitized, and if they might be viewable at home.
Then searching for Lancashire in the catalogue on FamilySearch, and selecting Probate records -
Wills and administrations of Lancashire only, 1558-1857
Diocese of Chester. Consistory Court
https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library

Then it's find it yourself on the films, most of them will probably be in order of probate date.
It's possible that more probate records from the area might be available on there. This is more Adrian's territory, and thanks to him again for the excellent analysis of those documents.

That's a pretty good guide, Ian. Except to mention that this covers Lancashire south of the Ribble only, as the bit north was Archdeaconry of Richmond, Diocese of Chester, where the wills were kept in a different place.

I hadn't realised that they were there at all.
