The Open University do free online short courses on historical photos and how to interpret them.

By May 1919 it had returned to use as the Railwayman's Convalescent Home as my great grandfather, a retired GER employee, was there. He had also been there in 1912. There are several photographs of him there but none with the background shown in this photo.

Attached one of my photos for comparison, not sure if this is 1912 or 1919.
