Family Tree Program review (July 2016)

Postby Jeanieallergy » Thu Jul 14, 2016 4:42 pm

I found the reviews of family tree programs in the July issue very informative. I was surprised by the choice of programs to review - never heard of Heredis, but MyHeritage, which provides a free downloadable program for your computer, together with optional sync online or to a smartphone app (max. 250 people free, then you must pay a subscription) was omitted. Is MyHeritage a well-kept secret?

Hi Rosie,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Nick Peers is an expert on family history software/apps, so we left it up to him to decide which ones should be included in the feature.

There wasn't a conscious decision to leave MyHeritage out of the picture, but it may have been dictated by what Nick felt UK researchers were more likely to encounter on the market, along with the fact we only had space to cover eight different programs.

Having said that, I'm sure we can run a piece on the MyHeritage app in the future.

I've now left Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine. Please contact regarding any forum queries.
