Anyone know the regiment?

Postby JulieH1969 » Wed Jul 27, 2016 12:31 pm

I think this is my uncle, I only ever knew him when he was older so not 100% sure, but does anyone know the regiment code on his uniform please?

I think the badge on his arm may be R.E.M.E - Royal and Electrical Engineers. If you look this up on line, you will see this badge and similar ones for the regiment.

The badge on his arm (over the corporal's stripes) is a trade badge and is that of a fitter (or smith) - crossed hammer and pincers. Well, that was my grandpa's trade and he had the same badge. It may be referred to as an artificer's badge - not sure.

I regret I have no idea of the collar badge.

The badge looks very like that of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. The trade or proficiency badge is used to signify skills as an Artificer or Armourer . Jeff Ward.
