Royal Pioneers Corps

Postby C Verrill » Wed May 11, 2016 1:25 pm

Can any one point me in the right direction to trace an ancestor who served in the Royal Pioneers Corp around 1942 please? I have very little information apart from date of birth/death of my Great Uncle, a photo in uniform showing his cap badge and would like to know more about his service during WW11. I . Any ideas please??

Thanks

His service records will be with the Ministry of Defence and can only be provided under certain conditions. Life is easier if you are the next of kin otherwise your access is restricted until X years after his death.

The TNA guide is on this link:

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help ... fter-1913/

From there you can get to the MoD site (assuming the site's address hasn't changed) and you can read through the conditions and see what you can get. The MoD route is the only way to full access of his papers.

Good luck.
