School admission books

Whilst it is good to see these books online, researchers should bear in mind that full names are not stated in the records and some of the transcription are not that good and in some cases just have a question mark. I do think that the free index should state which county the books cover, for example does 'Gillingham' mean the one in Kent or the one in Dorset. I did find some ancestors but my grandfather and his twin sister are missing (from Gillingham, Kent and I know he was awarded a book at school) and it appears that there are no records for Portsmouth as the index does not list Portsmouth, the records may as with other records have been destroyed during the German bombing of Portsmouth during the Second World War. Finally, the records are expensive to view, please note FMP!.

They don't seem to have any school records for Dorset.
If in doubt, select county.
