Dublin wedding

Postby Farrelly Girl » Thu Jun 18, 2009 11:16 pm

I have recently uncovered a photo of my grandparents wedding taken in Dublin on 15th April 1912. They were married in St James Church (next door to the Guinness Brewery) and the photo is taken in the meadow behind the family home in Old Kilmainham. The big mystery is that it appears to be a mutiple wedding, the grooms all being in the 11th Hussars stationed at Richmond Barracks. I have checked the records at St James for that day and only one wedding took place - that of my grandparents. I can only imagine that the other couples married in other churches and they all got together for the photo. I think that the regiment was being posted back to England and they wanted to take their new wives with them. This is a vey long shot but maybe someone somewhere also has a copy of this photo and can put names to faces so if this rings any bells with you I'd love to hear from you!
