Who Do You Think You Are Magazine Forum

In the 1871 census my great grandfather, Thomas Ackworth Parker, born in 1845, had a given occupation as a gun maker. In later census's this trade became toolmaker and finally in the 1891 he was a planemaker. Does anyone know of any tradesmen directories in which he may be named? I did try Guildhall to see if he was a registered Gunsmith but there was no record.
