Death At Sea

Postby Tree Detective » Wed Oct 23, 2013 3:54 pm

Hi everyone,

I wonder could anyone help me? I have 2 ancestors who died at sea (both in the late 1800's) and I am finding it hard to get hold of their death certificates.

Would anybody have any advice or direct me in the right direction?

Many thanks

:-)

Hi Tree Detective, we ran something on causes of death in our October issue and the article suggests you search findmypast.co.uk which has deaths of seamen at sea for most of the 19th century and for passengers from 1874.

Hope that helps,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I have tried Find my past but I don't think their lists are to the full extent.
One of the people I am looking for is not on their database but he is recorded elsewhere.

I will get a copy of the October issue and have a look.

Thanks.
