Mystery Man in uniform

Image

Hello,

This photograph is from my great grandparents collection the Organ and Johnson family. The man in this image was thought originally to be James Arthur Paintin who went down with the Titanic leaving a son. After careful analysis of comparing a photograph of him with this man it was decided they weren’t the same but possibly they were from the same family.

I was wondering if anybody could help identify the uniform and ...

Henry Dillon Boylan

I have hit a brick wall with my research on Henry Dillon Boylan, I can find no record of his birth around 1816 in Dublin. On the 20th June 1846 he married Henrietta Jane Dun in Paris, I can find no record of his travel to France. Then in the Census records he shows up 1851 at 27 Camden Hill Road, Kensington - 1871 at Shawpark House, Selkirk, Scotland which was his wife family home. ...

19th Field Survey Unit

I have got my dad's military history from Glasgow (he died 45 years ago), but lack the knowledge to decipher it and how to locate the war diaries involved. Would I be better off getting a professional military genealogist on the case? He was in the RE, BEF as a Helio worker in the 19th Forward Survey Unit. Thank you.

UK Divorce records post 1950

Does anyone know if UK divorce records are available to search anywhere? I'd be happy for a date from an index but if the court filing papers are available that would be great. I've not found any mention so far so perhaps these aren't considered suitable for public access?

Coronavirus

Following Prime Minister Johnson's briefing today and yesterday's statement on the virus it looks like libraries and I assume The National Archives will be closed for some considerable time. Hopefully staff at TNA and in the other archives do not go back until it is safe to do so ("social-distancing") etc. We may have a long wait to get back in to do research, but that is no bad thing.

Marie Elizabeth Lynn/Glynn, Ireland - Australia

Elizabeth Lynn was born in 1871 but after her mother died in 1872, she was brought up by her mother's family in Co Antrim.
She married Dr Robert Glynn in 1897 (where?) and they founded a dynasty in South Australia - the first child was born on 1898, the last in 1911. I already know quite a lot about the family, but the earlier years elude me at present.
I believe that Robert McMahon Glynn ...
