I am a sucker for a Mystery!

I felt that the programme implied that the Staffords didn't really exist or were some cloak and dagger couple doing a dirty deed by standing in as parents to get Emma, John's Great grandmother, Christened.

It was interesting to see how much John Hurt wanted to be Irish and saw it as part of his identity. Having Irish blood is definitely seen as a cool now. I really recommend watching the Graham Norton episode.

The perils of truth

I'm sure it won't get anything like the column inches that Paxman's tears did, but surely John Hurt's anger at discovering that he's not actually Irish in any way will be the talking point of the second programme.

It's a sobering fact however that the truth isn't always what you want, even if what you want is in fact the truth.
