Mysterious Salters, Devon 1870-1911

Hello everyone,
Until about a year ago I had no knowledge at all of my mother’s paternal family. A wonderful researcher from Plymouth & West Devon RO helped me track them down (since confirmed by DNA).
My Grandfather Herbert John Salter was born in 1898 in Newton Abbot workhouse (obviously illegitimate). His mother was Mary Ellen Salter, a Laundress from Torquay (b June 1876.

I'm searching for the whereabouts of William Bennett b1907 in Coventry; s/o Walter & Jane Elizabeth Bennett
I know he was with his family in 1911 at 46 Trafalgar Street, Coventry. I can't find him in 1939 - possible he was already signed up for the war?

Prison Records

I’ve come across the bare details of a court case that resulted in a short prison term for someone who may or may not be ‘one of mine’. What I know is just the entry in a sentencing log so name, county, date of trial, charge and sentence. How would I discover more, specifically how can I discover if this is someone on my tree?

Emily Cooper 1847 or 1849

Emily Cooper married John James in 1874. She was 26 years of age and her father was Mark Cooper.

Census records all show born on Isle of Wight and vary between IOW, Ryde and Newport. Ages on these, marriage and death give births between 1847 and 1849

A potential 1851 Census have a Mark Cooper age 27, Mary age 23 and Emily age 4.

The Clarkson and Bigland Families Of Lancashire

Is anyone familiar with the Clarkson families in Lancashire? James Clarkson b abt 1789/90 and Isabella Bigland b abt 1804 were married in Lancashire and had four children before immigrating to America in 1833/4. I find Clarkson marriage, baptismal and burial records on the Lancashire Parish website going back to the 1500s but I can't place any of them as parents or relatives of James. Missing in 1901 Census

Hi all,
I am researching Whittingham family and am back as far as c1800 in Castleton/Chapel-en-le-Frith.

However I have a problem!

My Gt Grandfather Samuel Whittingham is on the 1891 census and on the 1911 census. But I cannot find him on the 1901 Census. His wife Prudence is listed as Head of Household in 1901 so where was Samuel?
