Gedmatch/DNA sharing

I'm seeking some advice on possibly sharing my RAW DNA results with Gedmatch. I wondered if anyone could give any advice on whether it is both safe and or worth doing. My basic understanding is that it could be quite useful as you are able to match up with other companies and cousins other than just Ancestry. Before doing so I would like to way up the pro's and cons and possibly have advice from ...

Catherine King of Hinckley - what happened to her?

I am researching Thomas and Catherine King (nee Pratt). They were married in Hinckley, Leicestershire in 1803 and had several children there until 1818. This was Thomas’ second marriage in Hinckley, his first wife Mary (Gays) dying in 1803, and was by licence which may suggest Catherine was a minor or that the marriage was taking place outside of the brides county. I have searched for the licence to confirm the position although it does ...

Hello,
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions with a brick wall I've been trying to break through for about ten years.

My great-great grandfather was George Powell Osmond born in London around 1854. He married Sarah Ann Barnes in 1874 and they had eight children. He was a boot fitter who loved around London such as Paddington, Willesden and St Giles in the Fields.

His marriage certificate states his father was George Osmond who was ...

Mary Ann Howarth - 1901 occupation

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help decipher Mary Ann's occupation, as it appears in the 1901 census. She is living with her parents John and Mary Ann, plus several siblings.

Mary A Haworth (age 17)
Burnley, Lancashire
Piece 3863, Folio 23, Page 38, Household schedule number 247

The third work looks like "Maker", but the first two words aren't quite as legible. Perhaps "Baker" and "Bag" ??

I lose trace of Mary Ann after ...

Barbara Gourley/Gourlay

Barbara was born on 14 August 1849 in Upperby, Cumberland. She died before Jul 1882 because there was a probate decision in that month. I have found her on the census but I wonder if anyone could find her death registration as I have tried and failed. Thanks.
