Genealogy Program Query

Is anyone familiar with any genealogy program that has a function similar to the recently discontinued "The Master Genealogist", that allows custom made "flags" to be created within a dataset? It is an extremely useful feature that allows easy searching and reporting on individuals by isolating only those people that fit a common criteria, e.g. Emigrated Y/N/? (Yes, No, Don't Know), but I have not discovered any other software yet that seems to have such ...

Bridget's Siblings

I have been trying to put together the siblings of Bridget Frain (Madame Frain!) and have got myself hopelessly confused and in need of some help.

What I know:
Bridget was born around 1825 and possibly in Ireland. I have not been able to find a birth record for her. Her parents were John Frain and Margaret Kame (also spelt Came/Cain/Kane on some records).

If I am right, Bridget had the following siblings-
Michael
John ...

Suicide & Burial

Jane Spencer's ancestry, detailed in WDYTYA Issue 94 (December 2014), mentions that 'At the time (1777), a person who had committed suicide could not be buried in consecrated ground because it was considered a sin' and I know of once such burial in a New Forest parish just 30 years ago where the circumstances of death led to some traditionalists complaining when the vicar allowed burial within the churchyard.

However, in my own family tree ...

Sarah Eveline Howard - What Happened?

Hi! I'm a new subscriber to the magazine and am thoroughly enjoying it!

To cut a very long and complicated story short, I have done extensive research into finding my great grand mother who I now know was Sarah Eveline Howard b1891. I finally found her in 2 census records in Hulme Manchester in 1901 and 1911 first as a boarder and later as a visitor with a family who's head of the household was ...

Court Farm, Tarring Neville

For anyone researching descendants of Gideon Holman and his wife Elizabeth Smith, both originally of Chiddingly in Sussex, you may be interested in the attached link:-

If you are related to this family, I would be interested to hear from you as Elizabeth Smith was my great-great-great-aunt. My great-great-grandma, Edith Mary Smith, moved away from Sussex in about 1914, but used to visit her Sussex relations. ...

John Attwood Keays, born London c1840

Any help most appreciated. Thirty years of effort, no results! Suggestions?

My great-grandfather John Attwood Keays/Keys according to all Canadian records was born in England c 1840. One record specifically mentions Wimbledon. He married in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1865 and died there in 1902. He was not found in the 1901 census which would have given his birth date. His parents' names on his marriage certificate are Charles and Sarah (no maiden name), although ...

Eunice Wilson

I am still on the search for the death of Eliza Wilson, with Eunice being her grand-daughter, her mother was Laura Wilson, who I don't think ever married. Eunice may have had the second name of Eveline and she married Frederick H. Elliot in 1918.

I still live with the hope that someone will have Eliza's death certificate among their papers. I have recently been able to remove another Eliza Wilson from my list, the ...

George and Martha Vickers - Where were they?

I'm trying to trace George (b.about 1815, Greenham, Berks) and Martha (b. about 1812/20, Devizes, Wilts) Vickers who lived in Thatcham/Greenham, Berks.

I've found them on the 1851 census in Stroud Green, Thatcham with their children but can't find them on any other census returns. I've tried tracking them via their children and although I can find them (although not all of them and not on every return) I can't find George or Martha anywhere. ...

Finding a London based researcher

Hello
I wonder if anyone could direct me to where I can locate any researchers who could help me with tracking down my grandfather born in the London area. (Couldn't have been a nice tiny village somewhere!) I have spent many, many years trying to find this darned man with absolutely no joy.
Fingers crossed

Barb
