Mary Ann Seaton

Hi all,

I have been having problems with my 4th great grandmother, Mary Ann Seaton;

I know that she was born in about 1820 in Kirkconnel, Dumfries, but I can't seem to find a birth record, not even on the Scots peoples website.
She married in 1843, Kirkconnel to William Begg who was from Ayrshire.
I found her death record in 1897, Muirkirk, Ayrshire, which states that her parents were John Seaton and Janet Shankland, ...

John Land (Devon c1711)

I've traced genealogy back to a William Land. He was christened on 21/05/1741 at Tiverton, Devon and married Sarah Craze on 14/03/1769, again in Tiverton.

William's father was a John Land, probably born in Devon circa 1711. It's a fairly common name so I've identified a few possibilities but been unable to safely unearth anything definate about this John. Any suggestions please?

Recording Diary

In response to the request made by Warpo who wanted a hard back note book for recording data. Try a 5 year diary. The size is A5, there are no years specified and no weekdays e.g Monday, Tuesday etc. So data and information can be recorded on just the actual dates for example 1st Jan through to 31st Dec.

Syphilis

Could this be a case of syphilis?
A 48 year old man died in an asylum in 1908 having been admitted in 1906. Cause of death on the death certificate states 'general paralysis, convulsive seizures, broncho pneumonia'. The story passed down in the family is that he died as the result of an attack which left him blind and seriously injured. However, I can find no newspaper reports to support this and now suspect that ...

Samuel Milson

Having had a bit of success with some strands of my family tree I am having a real problem with my 3x great grandfather, Samuel Milson (sometimes spelled, Millson). The 1841 census indicates that he was born in Yorkshire circa 1811, but I cannot find a relevant parish record of his birth in Yorkshire. There is a Samuel Millson born in Messingham, Lincolnshire, but my branch of the Millsons appear to have spent all their ...
