Paris ladies art college c. 1900

I am researching my 2x great aunt, Ada Blanche Ward (b. 1871). Ada told my mum that she's gone to art college in Paris, but dropped out and returned to her family in south Devon. I've failed to find any records either of her travel or enrolment. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find records for this?

This portrait of her is from 1892.

Hannah and Mary WOOLGAR or WOODGAR

I am trying to find out about Hannah WOOD(L)GAR and her daughter Mary.

I know very little, other than Hannah married George GLAZIER on 28 Sep 1875 at Hambledon RO. In the marriage document, Hannah is described as a spinster aged 40. Her father is named as Henry WOOD(L)GAR, a deceased farm labourer.

The only other record I can find for them is the 1881 census, where the family is living in Chiddingfold, Surrey:

George ...

I am trying to locate the birth certificate of Charles Riddle, who was born c1839 in the Chiddingfold Workhouse. His father was William Riddle, a labourer. And his mother was Harriet Riddle, formerly Glazier and born Far.

Odd death record

This death record is a mystery. Apparently Henny Mcleod died aged 1 day. However the cause of death is 'Supposed diptheria, 4 days'.
Also, there does not appear to be a birth record for her either.

Workhouse inmates

I’m a bit confused ... I have a Lucy Burrell born 1839 in Great Burstead, Essex in the workhouse in Billericay, Essex from 1851 through to her death in 1897. She appears as a pauper/inmate on each census & she’s shown as a cook/domestic.

Is it odd that she was there for so lomg?

More strangely perhaps is her daughter Julia Ann is born in the workhouse in Gravesend, Kent in 1879. There’s no father ...

What is this occupation?

Can anyone please tell me what a "kiddier" does? I have found this as an occupation in Norfolk in the 1840s. It was given in a baptismal register as a man's occupation. I believe previously he may have been described as a gardener.

Child Maintainance Record Access

Hi all
I am trying to help a friend with her family tree but her biggest stumbling block is identifying her biological father as he is not on her birth certificate.
Having no hard evidence of his full name or age and drawing blank after blank the only piece of information we know is 100% correct is that her father was paying child maintenance for her from 1965 to Tower Bridge magistrates London which now ...

Queen Alexandra - Maid of Honour (Aldershot)

I am in the process of putting together a long-overdue biographical sketch on my grandmother (whom I grew-up with). When I was a child, I recall her reminiscing that she was a Maid of Honour to Queen Alexandra on at least two separate occasions. Being young, I neglected to ask her for details. :( However, I do recall that both occasions occurred when my grandmother was a ...
