Incoming and Outgoing Passenger

My Mother left Fremantle, Western Australia in 1957 on a Swedish Cargo Boat carrying 12 passengers.
It was sometime between April/May 1957. I stood at the wharf with my Father & Sister and waved her goodbye. She was away for for about 6 months.

I have gone through all of the new information re Immigration & Incoming passengers to UK & Australia, and she is not on the lists.

Is it because she was on ...

Looking for Rose Cracknell

I have a complicated family who lived in the Whitechapel area of London from the 1850's until the 1900's. One of my favourite ancestors is Eugenie Jarvis (also Cracknell, Robbins, Brown and Day). I just love her obvious survival skills, and wish I could find out more about her. There are a few mysteries about her marriages/partnerships, and fruit for a few other topic requests in finding one of her bigamous husbands, but my focus ...

Marriage frustration

I'm trying to locate the marriage of my great great grandfather but so far have been unable.

His name is Peter Joseph Logan, born about 1850 in Dublin, Ireland.

My great great grandmother was called Annie Hollett, born about 1860 in Plymouth, Devon.

The 1911 census says they were married in 1891. That is all I know. Can anyone help???

McKinlay and Findlay mystery

Hi people,

I have been scratching my head lately about my 4th great grandmother.
She had several children with Alexander Bell, b.1805, not sure when he died, but presumably before 1873.
My 3rd great grandfather was their second son, Alexander Bell (1836 - 1912).
I have the marriage between her, Janet McKinlay and Alexander Bell sr from 1831 in Kilmarnock.
I also have her birth certificate from 1800 (Kilmarnock), 3rd child and 2nd daughter (notes ...

Thomas Tuckey 1786 & Charles Tuckey 1787

Charles Tuckey (born 1761 Headley, Hants, UK) and Johanna Bacon (born 1761 Heyshott, Sussex, UK) married 1784 in Cocking, Sussex have four children: John, Thomas, Charles and William, all born in Cocking. I know what happens to John and William but I can't find a single mention anywhere of the other two.

If it helps, John fights in the Peninsular war, returns to the UK and gets married in Cowden but is sent back to ...

John Price Plas Winter Halkyn 1822? 1821? 1816?

I have been researching John Price whose parents were Shem Price and Sarah (possibly Hughes) - later censuses between 1841 Wales, and 51 - 71 England suggest a birth date of 1821, and 1822. However the baptism record I have found is for December 16th 1816 Halkyn with Shem and Sarah as parents. I wondered if there were perhaps 2 Johns in the same family. I can't find a later baptism but have found a ...

Thomas Charles Baylis was born 9th September 1901 in Fulham. His parents had both died by 1905 and he was brought up by his mother's family whose surname was Allen. On the 1911 census they were living at Ledbury Terrace, Wyche Road, Malvern.

In 1919 Thomas joins the army but a year later is discharged. The problem I have is that nothing is really known of him after that. I have a death certificate for ...

Hi there,

My great grandfather was the person who kick started my family tree research and has turned out to be the most mysterious and difficult to find out about.

Until we recently we had his name recorded as Robert Dotson, however when we uncovered his birth certificate we established that his name was actually Robert Dobson! This threw all of the research I had for him. He was born at 20 Grove Avenue, Fulham ...
