Death in Guy's Hospital 1865.

I am trying to trace a burial in London in late June or early July 1865.

Emily SWAN, a niece of my 2xGreat Grandmother, (and born Walford-by-Ross, Herefordshire 1828) died in Guy's Hospital on 27 June 1865. She was in her mid 30s, unmarried and was described as a Dressmaker. Though the wider family were close, and her father, John, was still alive, he was quite elderly and poor. Her death was registered by a ...

Thomas Dye & Frances Bush

Following the recent release of Norfolk Parish registers I have found the following written after the Banns for this couple: It States "on which date the Banns were forbidden by Henry Miller at the request of Frances Bush, dissented".
However there are subsequent baptisms for children of Thomas & Frances Bush.
Can anyone shed light on this?

Thomas Whittaker, Manchester

Hi all,
This is something of a head scratcher that probably doesn't even relate to an ancestor of mine. To try to get this in context; I have a 3rd g-grandfather (definitely mine) called Christopher Wilson Whit(t)aker, b. ~ 1815, Manchester. Father Thomas, mother Mary, as per his baptism on 25 Dec 1815.
I can find a Thomas Whittaker marrying a Mary Oldham, 29 Oct 1815. There are some earlier marriages to Marys that I ...

I'm trying to trace the ancestry of the wife of one of my ancestors.

On 13 March March 1907 my grandad's cousin, James Willis, (aged 33) married a Belgian girl named Romanie Marie Demey in Dover Register Office. The marriage certificate states James was 33 years old and Romanie was 24 years and her father was a Horimond Demey, a Petty Officer in the Belgian Navy.

18th century letter

I have a copy of a letter written by one of my ancestors in the 18th century. I have deciphered most of it but I don't understand one particular phrase. It probably doesn't mean much but I've hit a brick wall with this particular ancestor and I'm looking for as many clues as I can! He is replying to a letter he has received from a land agent and most of the letter is about ...
