All At Sea ? Thomas Scott cerca 1846 South Shields

ALL AT SEA

Apologies for the long post with all the detailed information that follows.

I am having a real headache with my Great-Great Grandfather, Thomas Scott.

Apparently, he was born in South Shields, in 1845 according to the census of 1871, 1881 and 1891 and this fitted perfectly in with a family living in Whitburn, Durham (1 mile from South Shields) headed by William Scott (prof : Sawyer) and Isabella Scott.

I tracked down ...

Harriott Ann Morris (1779 - 1815)

My 5th great grandmother was Harriott Ann Morris, she was born in 1779 in Westminster and died in 1815, Whitechapel.
She was married to James Blyth Pitcher, who came down to London from Norfolk, he lived to quite a great age and I have his side very well covered.

The problem I have had, is finding out exactly who Harriott's parents were, I have them on her birth record as George Morris and Ann, who's ...

Dorothy Robson/Gibbon(s) born 1830

I have compiled a life story for Dorothy Robson, principally to confirm details of her daughter Dora/Dorothy who was known as Robson on her marriage certificate to Thornwell Shellhorn but (formerly) Gibbons on her children's birth certificates.

I first found the elder Dorothy in the 1841 census where she is living with her father, Andrew Robson in Thorvington, Northumberland, and she is listed as aged 11, born in Kirknewton. The 1851 census gives similar details ...

Looking for a pair of fresh eyes - can you help?

While most people probably think of the name 'Dyson' in connection with a certain brand of vacuum cleaner, it is my maiden name. Before you read further you should note that this surname is exceedingly common in West Yorkshire, hence the difficulties I'm experiencing. Apologies for a long post, but I felt I should post all that I know to save anyone repeating what I've researched already.

My great-great-grandfather, Henry Dyson, was born on 8 ...

Reasley sisters mystery

My maiden name was Reasley. My father wanted me to have the middle name of "Sone", which was a family tradition because he had "three maiden aunts who went to America" and he thought that, had they made their fortune, I may have been in line for an inheritance but he never gave me any more details than that. My mother vetoed the idea.
Although this story was not the reason to start investigating my ...

Looking for a death

I'm looking for the death of John Thomas Dowsett, born 7th May 1844 in Rotherhithe. He married Mary Ann Dobinson (nee Davis) in 1877. I've found him on most census' up to 1901 all living in Rotherhithe, after that I can't find him. I really would like to find his death record to confirm I have the right person. Can anyone help?

Thanks
Sam
