Grey Area

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could help me locate my 6th great grandfather Joseph Grey. He was born circa 1745 and married Sarah Robinson on the 4th Jan 1772 in Shorthampton Oxfordshire, close to Charlbury in Oxfordshire. Sarah was from Churchill in Oxfordshire born 1752, Joseph I can’t find when he was actually born however. He appears in the 1841 census and died in 1842 in Wootton Oxfordshire, aged about 97! He and Sarah ...

Missing Births and Deaths From Search Results

I keep coming up against the same problem every time I do a search.

Example. My great, great grandmother Emily Ellis, apparently born in Fleetwood, Lancashire in 1858 however I can find no record of her birth there.

I know she married my great, great grandfather Thomas Towers who was born somewhere in Leicestershire in 1859 and they moved to Dublin, Ireland. They are on the census there in 1901 however yet again I can ...

Danish to English Translation Please

1840 Census, Denmark. Can anyone tell me what the status and occupations were of the family in entry 40. Maike Jungoluf Rolufs, Nickels, Cornelis, Elke and Elena. We are researching Nicolas Jean Rolufs, born 1811 in Denmark and think that Nickels is the correct person. Does Jungoluf translate into English as Jean?

Any help is much appreciated.

Sarah Dewbury

One of my ancestors is still a mystery despite previous help from this forum, so I'm re-visiting her, just in case!
Agnes Grant was born in Manchester in 1856; her birth certificate shows her parents as Hugh Grant and Sarah Grant, formerly Dupree (no marriage found). On other family documents, Sarah's surname is also spelled Duprey or Dubery.
However, on Agnes's RC baptism certificate, father is Hugh Grant, while mother is named not as Sarah, ...

Gambige Mystery

Hello,
I’m trying to trace one of my ancestors Ann Gambige who seems to be very elusive. Their daughter Phoebe married William Sparrowhawk in Oxford in 1819, when Phoebe’s father was a witness as she was a minor at at the time of her marriage. William ...

Jesse Watts-Russell was a very wealthy landowner and much can be found about him online. ...
