The folder includes details of the Lyons and Hall families
At Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine, we were very sad to have to announce last month that Who Do You Think You Are? LIVE, the UK’s largest family history event, was to come to a close after ten years.
From the responses we’ve had from readers, it’s clear that many of you will really miss the show as well.
Those of you familiar with WDYTYA? LIVE will know that one of its greatest successes was putting keen researchers in touch with professional genealogists who could help them solve mysteries in their family tree.
Now, the show has thrown up one final mystery.
While clearing out the WDYTYA? LIVE lost property, we found a folder of family history research.
This picture of the Hall family was in the folder
The original owner must have lost it at the show one year and never claimed it.
The research is focused on two families – the Lyonses and the Halls.
It includes a copy of a picture of a family group, including three young men in uniform, with the caption ‘My father Fred and his two brothers William and George Hall all served in the British Armed Forces in the First World War’.
It also holds a number of birth and marriage certificates relating to the Lyons family, including the birth of Frederick David Lyons, son of Jeremiah and Annie Lyons, in Widemarsh, Hereford on 30 June 1909.
Another son of Jeremiah Lyons, William Henry Lyons, married Lilian Mary Hall on 13 January 1917 at the Church of the Holy Rood, Watford.

Someone has obviously put a lot of effort into making this folder, and it would be a shame to see it wasted.
We’ve asked our readers on Facebook and Twitter if they know who it belongs to, but we’ve had no luck, although plenty of readers shared advice, such as the importance of putting your contact details on notebooks and folders and not carrying the originals of important documents around.
If you think you might be the owner of this folder, or know who is, please get in contact on wdytyaeditorial@immediate.co.uk.
